# What is Topyc?

Topyc is an AI content tool that helps to quickly grow your websites without a content team or advanced SEO skills. For Ecommerce, Blogs, Niche Sites, Directories and more.

# Quick Start

If you just want to try generating an article with Topyc as quickly as possible, [go to your workspace dashboard](https://app.topyc.io/dashboard) and click "New Project" to add a new project if you don't already have one. Give it a name, a master topic (the main topic of your website), and click Create Project.

Topyc will start generating topic clusters for your project. After about 15 seconds, they'll begin streaming into your project dashboard.&#x20;

These topic clusters help you brainstorm content ideas within a content plan for your website designed to help you achieve topical authority.

However, you can go straight to generating an article outside of those topic clusters. Scroll down to the Articles table and click the "New Article" button.

Enter a title or a placeholder such as "asdf" (or whatever you want). Topyc will create its own optimized article title later. Enter a target keyword and describe the content idea briefly (one sentence is good). Then click "Start Editing".

Now you'll be brought to the article editor. Here you can customize your article settings on the right sidebar, or leave them on their defaults. Then click "Generate All" and Topyc will generate the article brief, content outline and full article for you.&#x20;

Note: You can leave the page while the article is generating. You will receive an email when it has completed generating. It should take around 5 minutes if you have Live Research enabled, or much less if Live research is disabled.

Once your article has generated, you can read it on the page, or copy it in HTML, Markdown, Rich Text or Plain Text formats by using Clipboard button at the top right:

# Article Settings

Control how Topyc writes your content.

Here are some ways you can customize how Topyc writes content:

# Writing Style

Control how Topyc writes your content.

In your article settings, you can choose how Topyc should write your content.

All the way to the left, you'll get a dry, academic style of writing.

All the way to the right, and the content will feel more like you're talking with a friend. This is powerful when combined with a well-known custom personality.


# Custom Personality

Give your content a personality.

In your article settings, you can define a custom personality Topyc should adopt to write your content, without making overt references to the person/character or specifics of their world.

You can use a famous character's name, well known person's name, or simply describe the author persona in a sentence. For example, "a retired doctor of internal medicine and bestselling author who focuses on helping people optimize their gut microbiome."

Topyc will craft your conent with this in mind.


# Live Research

Give your content a personality.

In your article settings, you can enable Live Research, and Topyc will perform real-time research Google Search + Google Scholar to ensure your content is up-to-date and accurate, with citations and references to trustworthy sources.

When Live Research is enabled, you can also choose the format for citations/references in the content.&#x20;

You can choose from...

* Inline linking (text linked in content in a natural way)
* APA 7&#x20;
* MLA 9
* Harvard
* IEEE
* None (disable linking to or citing sources in the content)

# Perspective

Control the point of view the content is written from.

In your article settings, you can control the perspective the content is written from using the Perspective setting:

You can choose from...

* First person singular (I, myself, me)
* First person plural (we, us)
* Second person (you)
* Third person (they)
* Objective (very neutral. avoids any particular perspective)


# Call To Action

Add an on-brand call to action at the end of your article.

In your article settings, you can enable Call To Action if you have already set up your Brand AI in your project settings.

If enabled, this will generate a call to action section at the end of the article, powered by AI trained on the custom files you uploaded in brand settings for this project.&#x20;

# Required Links

Topyc will work these links into the content in a natural way.

In your article settings, you can specify Required Links. Topyc will link to them in the article content.

Simply paste in one url per line (meaning, one url, or a line-separated list of urls).

Topyc visits them, analyzes the content of that page, and uses that to help it decide where and how to link to that page in the generated content.

Useful for specifying internal links, for example.

You can schedule for a date in the future or publish immediately.

You can also enable auto-blogging for a topical cluster in your project, and new articles will be published to your Wordpress site on your desired schedule (e.g. 1 article per day, Monday, Wednesday and Friday).&#x20;

You can schedule for a date in the future or publish immediately.
